Another dry spell...

Well, in attempts to keep the new years resolution of updating more....here I am almost a month later updating. The delay? I was trying to get Ali to do an update (finally). But, alas, I failed. Maybe next time?

In any case, here's whats going on in the life of the Paus...

We had an awesome time in Hawaii for the holidays. We made it to Hawaii to see the fam. Having a warm, warm Christmas was really refreshing. Things were getting a little dreary around these parts and we needed some sun. We went to the turtle beach on Christmas eve. Brought a little lunch with us and sat and watched turtles in the water. So cool. Christmas morning we hiked Diamond Head. Ali has wanted to do this every time we have been in Hawaii but we never got around to it. So this time she was getting it done. It was a perfect temperature. We hung out with my parents a lot which was good and reminded me of the parent I hope to be to Kiki. We also spent a lot of time with friends and their little ones, getting advice and making lists filled with the items that folks said would make parenting that much easier. My Brest Friend (that is a real name...), Itzbeen, and an Elmo DVD. Noted. Hawaii was awesome. Friends were awesome. Family was awesome. Being there with my wife was the most awesome.

We came back to Spokane for new years eve. It was a pretty uneventful day...baby doctor appointment (all things look great!), some laundry over at the McGonigals, and watching the Survivor finale on On Demand (PS- Russel deserved to win, I don't care what anyone says). Ali was falling asleep by 10pm so I woke her up at 12 and we celebrated for a a minute, then she went back to bed. We are getting old.

A few days later we went back to work and then had an ultrasound to find out the Kikis gender. WOO HOO! The ultrasound tech was super hospitable and answered a lot of questions. She took a lot of pictures and measurements and told us that the baby was growing nicely. Lots of pictures of feet and hands. You could see bones this time which was cool and weird at the same time. You could see the 4 chambers of the heart, kidneys, brains...it was crazy! So all of that was awesome news. Then on to the gender...(drumroll)

Kiki is a....modest baby.

The baby was not cooperating and did not show off their "business". So we couldnt tell if it was a boy or a girl. Bummer. The baby was moving a ton because Ali just had breakfast but just would not roll over in a way that we could tell. Oh well, the most important thing is that the baby is healthy and so is mama.

Ali is starting to show...yet another step of this makes it more real.

Long time no blog...

Alright…so the wife and I are horrible about keeping this updated. Early new years resolution…regular blog updates. ESPECIALLY since we have so much to update ya’all on. I am going to try and keep them somewhat chronological.

A) First, and definitely biggest news we have…WE ARE PREGNANT! I contemplated changing the blog name from “Tyler and Ali are finally hitched” to “Tyler and Ali are expecting” and seeing how many people would’ve noticed. It’s awesome news. Here is a picture of the little Pau.

Let me try and answer some of the FAQs that we have gotten thus far...

1) Nope. We were not trying but feel extremely blessed.
2) We are due in May. Crazy time of closing a building, ending my contract, and bringing a little Pau into the world.
3) We don’t know gender yet. We are still debating (read: discussing) if we will find out in a few weeks.

I am sure we will have more updates in the near future. We are just over 18.5 weeks. Ali’s morning sickness (that actually came at night) is pretty much gone. Since we don’t know the babys gender, we have been calling him/her “Kiki” instead of saying “it.” It was a trip to hear the babys heartbeat at every doctors appointment. Keep us in you thoughts and prayers. We are excited and scared out of our minds at the same time.

B) Bonnie and Dale (Ali’s parents) came out to visit us. It was a great time with them. Bonnie cooked us an amazing dinner one night and we sat around for hours (chatting about life, Dale’s new iPhone application called “LifeTrack”, sharing about Ali and my new married life, and then taking all the advice we could about parenting) and laughed a lot. We were so happy to have some family come visit us out here. Thanks Bonnie and Dale! Also, Bonnie got a tattoo while she was here. Buck hooked her up with a cool Picasso dove. Maybe Dale is next???

C) Ali and I went over to see my brother and his family in Federal Way for Thanksgiving. SO awesome on a couple levels. Level 1…it was so good to be with my brothers family. Level 2…my nephew Chance was there! I hadn’t seen him since my brothers wedding, two years ago. Level 3…food was amazing. Felicity even made baked beans with my moms recipe. She did awesome. Level 4…We found a Thursday paper laying in the road that had all the Black Friday advertisements in it. Score. Level 5…my brother now has a Wii and a Playstation 3. It was a good time for Ali and I to get away and we had a good time on our drives to and from the westside. Mathyus was tired enough to let us put this on him in Target.

D) Ali and I are packing to fly out to Hawaii for Christmas. YES! Spokane is looking like this…

We could use the warmth. It will be good to go visit some of the places from the wedding. Haleiwa Joes. Dukes. Ali even wants to do Diamond Head. We might even eat the top cake from the wedding. Lemon lilikoi? Mmmm. We will make sure to take a lot of pictures to post on the blog.

Welcome, Padraic!

Padraic Edward Mulcahy joined the crew on Sunday, October 18. He was a big boy at 9 lbs., 1 oz. and a lengthy 21.5". His proud parents, Sean and Grace, had been waiting a while for him to get here. Grace did great, Sean didn't faint...and the little Mulcahy was born.

He is such a blessing. Welcome to the crew, little buddy

Welcome, Ella!

On Thursday, October 8, the beautiful Ella Joy McGonigal joined the crew. Here she is with her proud parents (and our good friends), Keats and April.
They are awesome people and we are so blessed to know them. It is impressive already to see them as full-fledged parents. April was a monster (we hear) in delivery and Keatsers' papa bear instincts are already kicking in protecting his little lady.

Congratulations McGonigals and it was an honor to meet lil' Ella. Blessings on your family!

Next up...Mulcahys? Bring the little mister on!

Where have you been?

Hello all! I hope that this update finds you well. It has been my crazy time of the year with training new staff and opening the residence hall for a whole new crop of students. The last post was on the day before my training started and just recently has there been good time to come up for air. Inhaaaaaaaale. Hold. Exhaaaaale. That's better.

Updates in the life of the Paus? Just a few. We are all moved into the residence hall and pretty much settled. A few more Goodwill donation runs and we will be set. I think the ladies in my building are especially excited to have Ali here. I am excited to see how she impacts their lives this year. Both training and opening went well. I am pumped about the student leadership I get to work with this year. Here is my staff in all their splendor.

Also, Ali and I just got tattooed! Ali got a key to match the heart-shaped lock tattoo that I have. She took it like a monster. She sat like a statue getting tattooed...on the ribs no less! She even looks like she fell asleep at some points.
She took it so well that I wished I had gone first because I was squirming and being a cry baby about mine (pics of that one to come later). Stellar tattoo work done by Buck, as usual.

A LONG overdue (and lengthy) update...

Hey folks! We are finally back in Spokane and trying to figure out normal life now. The past couple of weeks have been very busy. Busy in a good way, of course. The Alison and I are married. At long last...Mr. and Mrs. Pau. I am so happy. I am pretty certain Ali is, too. I am going to make an attempt to speak on the highlights of the recent past. Here goes...

-We got married on Friday, June 26. It was a beautiful day. Me and the boys were running late (per usual) and it rained a little in the morning but cleared up for the ceremony and reception. Ali looked stunning and there were many tears (of joy) shed that day. If you want to see pictures from the wedding, please click HERE. So many people had a hand in making that day amazing. We really appreciate everything you did for us!

-Our honeymoon was stellar. As you know, we went on a cruise to Catalina and to Ensenada, Mexico. Lots of sleeping, lots of food, lots of fun, lots of sun, and lots of appreciating being done with wedding planning. WOO HOO! The casino on the boat did not treat me well...but I will be back to exact my vengeance soon. After the cruise we spent some time in Southern California. We got to watch some fireworks on the 4th from our hotel in Anaheim. There were about 24 different fireworks shows that we could see from our room. Awesome. Also, we got to roll around to our old stomping grounds in Azusa, Pomona, and Diamond Bar. It was really special for us to visit the areas that we lived in when we first met. We also spent some time with our friends Tony, Ruth, and Tim. It was good catching up with them. Ruth and Tim are actually getting married in December so they had questions about planning. Ali and I felt like we could speak as pros having been married for week and a half. Honeymoon wraps up and we fly back to "real" life.

-We land back in Spokane and then Ali goes immediately to work. Bummer. Three days later she leaves for a work conference. Super bummer. Before she gets back, I leave to meet my brother in Federal Way, WA (thanks Katy and Lacey for the rides!). Super duper bummer. It was great to see my brother but rough to be away from my wife (it's so fun to call her that!). I got back a few days later and then Ali and I both left for the west side again to spend some time with my brother (who is relocating there for work with his wife and son and (on-the-way) daughter). Then back to Spokane for 2 days then off to MN for our wedding reception!

-We had an outrageous reception at the Ninmann home in Mahtomedi, MN. They went all out! Dancefloor, DJ, tiki bar (with bartenders), a lu'au style caterer (complete with pig with apple in mouth), a HUGE tent (to make sure any potential rain did not interrupt to party), and more Minnesotans than you could shake a stick at. It was fun to meet so many people that I have heard stories about from Ali. Faces went to names and everyone had such sweet things to say about Ali. It was another reminder of how lucky I am to have her as my wife. It was so much fun spending time with my new family. Thanks to everyone who came out. It was great to meet all of you.

-After the wild party, we went to unwind at the Ninmann cabin up north. I got to spend some more intimate time with her cousins and their families. They are good folks! Again, lots of rest, some sun, lots of Bonnie's cooking, and a few failed attempts at wake boarding. Like the casino, revenge will be mine...some time. Thanks to my new family for your hospitality.

- After our fun in MN, Ali and I returned to Federal Way to greet my sister-in-law and nephew. It was great way to wrap up my summer. I start work tomorrow. Ali goes back to work, too. Real, real life is about to set in.

Thanks for putting up with this really long post. Thanks for attending our recent celebrations. Thanks for being a part of our lives. Ali and I are truly blessed by the people around us. I feel like through this whole summer, I have learned more about the importance of family and friends. Your presence is priceless.

Please continue to check in on the blog. I am going to work to keep it updated about our going-ons, and will keep nagging Ali to do an update every now and again.

It feels like ages since we've had an update here. We are currently in Salt Lake City waiting for our flight home to Spokane (after an amazing time in Hawaii, then on our stellar honeymoon in the pacific, and some r&r in L.A.) and wanted to give you a small taste of the going ons from this past June 26th.
